Aqua Dots Strip Quilt

I just finished a quilt that I made just to try machine binding.  It’s a quilt-as-you-go strip quilt, which means it’s quick and simple.

I’m loving the aqua, red and white color scheme with tons of polka dots.  Those three colors (and the dots) are among my favorite things right now.  I’m calling it my Aqua [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Green lattice with pink blossoms

This is one of the tablecloths that I love and use regularly.

Measuring 48 by 53 inches, it is printed on a cotton/polyester blend, which probably accounts for the incredibly vivid color after years of storage.  It had some yellowing when I purchased it, but it soaked out beautifully.

This tablecloth looks fabulous on my kitchen table, [...]

Ranunculus, my favorite flower

Do you have a favorite flower?

I have several of them, actually (like these hydrangeas).  But there is one that I love more than all the others.

Ranunculus.  My all-time favorite.  The flower that makes my heart skip a beat.

Earlier this week I ran into a florist shop looking for white flowers, and there, to my amazement, [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Pink Flower Ovals

Today’s tablecloth is another that reminds me of vintage ticking, only without the stripes.

The oval medallions remind me a lot of those that are so often scattered in vintage ticking patterns.  The flowers on this cloth are really more of a mauve.
From a distance, I like the way the ovals lay around the edges of [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Roses and Loops

Another tablecloth with roses and a black pattern going around the entire piece.  The black has faded to a lovely charcoal gray.   I like how the inside pattern consists of circles overlaying one another, while the smaller outside one is made of loops that travel around the edges.  (I also like the two cute helpers [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Pink & Red Flowers on Yellow

On a rainy day, this is just the thing to bring a bit of sunshine in!

Cheerful pink and red flowers dance around the edge of this tablecloth.  It measures 45 by 53 inches.   This pretty cloth has a couple of small stains and a few small holes on one end, but overall the condition is [...]

Vintage Aqua Patterned Glasses

This set of vintage glasses has me aching for summer!

They’re just begging to be filled with lemonade.

I love the aqua pattern on this set of glasses.  So cheery!

I could plan an entire party around these 5 glasses.  Doesn’t that sound like fun?
I can picture a lovely outdoor luncheon, or a cozy breakfast.  Wouldn’t they be [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Red & Aqua

Proof positive that the red and aqua (with brown) color scheme on a white background has been around before.
I bought this vintage tablecloth several years ago purely for the colors.  I love the almost watercolor style flowers in two shades of aqua, with splashes of green, yellow, and plenty of milk chocolate brown and red.

This [...]

Vintage Blue Jars

Last week’s junk sale find…

has found a new home.  I washed the vintage blue canning jars and decided to give them some time to glisten in the family room.

I always find that during the winter I favor the look of empty containers.  The shape itself becomes art to me, and I don’t feel the need [...]

Vintage Tablecloth: Iron and Roses

This little beauty is 27 inches by 31 inches.  Technically not a tablecloth at this size, but I use it as a topper when I layer linens.

The black scroll details look like a fence going around the edges.  I love the combination of black, white and red.  So classic.  One of the beautiful things about [...]
