Happiness is…

many things.  Mostly little things.
Today it’s a little stack of freshly cut fabric.

Really pretty fabric, I might add.  I’m so excited to turn it into a new quilt!
I’m hoping for an early bedtime tonight…
What brought you happiness today?

Addition to the stash

Two new pieces of fabric arrived in the mail.

They’re from the Girl Friday line by Cosmo Cricket.  It’s fun to see so many scrapbook papers licensed for quilting fabric and this was a line I wasn’t familiar with until my awesome sister gave me a heads-up.  I think this fabric has been out for a [...]

Aqua Dots Strip Quilt

I just finished a quilt that I made just to try machine binding.  It’s a quilt-as-you-go strip quilt, which means it’s quick and simple.

I’m loving the aqua, red and white color scheme with tons of polka dots.  Those three colors (and the dots) are among my favorite things right now.  I’m calling it my Aqua [...]

Rouenneries Quilt… finished!

At last, my quilt is done!

I’ve pieced many quilt tops, but rarely quilt them myself.  This one was a learning experience for me because I opted to quilt it myself.  It seemed to take forever, but it is finished at last.  It is fairly large, about 65 by 90 inches.
The top looks like this:

This quilt [...]

Placemat to Pillow: DIY

I was on the hunt for pillows with some turquoise in them when I found these placemats on clearance at TJ Maxx.

I liked the colors and the pattern but I didn’t need more table linens.  And then I thought:  wait, there are four of them.  Why not make pillows with them?!  So they came home [...]

Valentine Ribbon Pillow

My project for the May Arts Valentines challenge is completed!

This project was fun to do, and I may have found a new favorite ribbon in the process.
The ribbons I used are all manufactured by May Arts.  Here’s how I did it.
I began by cutting a piece of unbleached cotton to the size of my pillow [...]

Kona Cotton

One of my goals this year is to make some quilts with solids.  So, I ordered a Kona Cotton sample card, which is a 6 page fold-out with a one inch swatch of every color on it!  I was so happy when it arrived!

221 colors.  Wow.  All so pretty!  I’m liking #200.  Pond.

I can’t decide [...]

Courage!

I pieced the back to my Rouenneries quilt yesterday, and I like it.  It’s two large panels of one of my favorite prints in the collection.  Between them is a strip of prints in the beige color.  I like the way it turned out, and the way it echoes the quilt top a little bit.

I [...]

My Creative Space

Last weekend I had so many creative ideas that I was just dying to spend a few hours creating.  However, it was one of those weekends when someone was tugging on my leg every 90 seconds, especially since there was no school on Monday.  I hate it when my day and my heart just don’t [...]

Fabric Favorites 2009

So, over at True Up, there’s been a giveaway running for those who submit their lists of favorite fabrics in 2009.  For some reason I didn’t feel like I had anything intelligent to add to the discussion until AFTER I started reading everyone’s submissions.  While I totally missed the contest, after reading the lists of [...]
