Peanut Butter Monster

My husband and a few of my children LOVE peanut butter.  Several of them will make two or three peanut butter sandwiches throughout the day as a snack.  The only problem is, the peanut butter is usually left out on the kitchen counter, lid off, and we have a little explorer who is undaunted by heights and forever hungry.

Apparently she’s added peanut butter to her list of favorite foods.  If she walks through the kitchen and sees it up there, she takes matters into her own hands.  How she got herself a plastic spoon is beyond me.

I know a couple of these are blurry since she was moving so much, but they make me laugh so here goes.

We’re calling her the Peanut Butter Monster.  I’m sure the pediatrician would be thrilled with me.

Spring Flowers

The vibrant yellow and green of these flowers grabbed my attention in the grocery store recently, and I decided to take matters in to my own hands.  I need spring.  Badly.  So I’m providing it for myself, in the form of flowers on the kitchen table.

I found these little pitchers several months ago and have been saving them for just such a display.  I love their simple shape and the graphic, modern feel that comes from the black lines.

Parading down the kitchen table, they add a drop of sunshine to my day and make me smile.

What’s been making you smile lately?

Sunlight

The golden morning sunlight burst through my kitchen windows to kiss the orange tulips across the room.

Bending, reaching, opening, they seem anxious to greet it.

The back door is open and a gentle breeze floats across the room.   Songbirds mingle their voices with the sounds of my children playing happily in the cool morning.  We have work to do, but it’s so hard to call them in.  It’s their first early morning of 2011 spent outside in the sunlight.

I’m hoping it lasts.  We need a real spring around here.
