Stitches

What does it say about your life if, before 9 a.m. on a Friday morning you are headed to the doctor’s office for stitches?

Apparently this month’s plan was for us to see if we could meet our deductible for the year in less than 30 days.  We just might be there.

As you can see, he hadn’t even changed out of his pajamas before his little accident.  Gratefully he missed the tendon.

As for me, I think I’m beginning to develop a twitch.  It has something to do with the tension of a minor medical emergency every couple of days for the last few weeks.  I’m feeling a bit weary of consoling myself with the words “it could have been worse.”  I’m ready for it to end.  I’d really appreciate a break from practicing our life preservation skills.

Anyone know where you can buy a padded room?  I’m pretty sure we need one.   PRONTO.

Excuse me while I go try to get the blood out of my bedroom carpet.

I hope your weekend is much better than ours has started out!

Move over, Mommy

This morning I was trying to get ready for the day when my two year old put on a purple dress, marched into my bathroom and announced, “Mom, tan you move so I tan brush my hair?  Can you?”

She then pulled up the step ladder and pushed me gently.  I handed her the brush and got out of the way.

What else was I to do?

It was totally worth it.  She’s a lot cuter than I am!

A First for Baby

Today my littlest one pulled herself to standing on her own.

The pictures are blurry because number 7 ran in front of me while I was taking the first one, and on the second one she was just so wobbly that her face is out of focus.  Still, I’m happy that I managed to capture this first in her life and thrilled that I was able to witness it.  It seems like so often they choose to try things for the first time when no one is looking at them.

Her big brother was sitting on the floor and she crawled up behind him, then held onto the back of his shirt to pull herself up.  He patiently sat still and put up with her pushing and pulling on him while she tried to stand.

It lasted only a second or two before she plunged to her stomach, but she was so pleased with herself.  I was impressed at her bravery in standing with only one hand on his back for support.

What a wonderful thing it is to watch them learn and grow…
