We’re Done.

The flags.

The mountains.

The goal.

The ball.

The hustle.

The tunnel.

The smile.

I love soccer.  I also love it when soccer is over.  With five players in the house, it’s good to be done.  Done with practices, done with soccer treats, done with games, done with tryouts, done with 4 hours of driving every day after school, done with lost shin guards.  Yes-sirree, as wonderful as it is to participate, it’s also wonderful to finish.

Time to reacquaint ourselves with play time and weekends.

Pinewood Derby

Last week was the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby for our troop.

It’s a fun event to attend as a family, so we skipped our soccer practices and everyone went to support their brother.  I still remember attending the Pinewood Derby for my five brothers when we were growing up.  It’s a fun event, although now I have greater appreciation for the pressure that comes with getting the car made.

The families were on one side, and the scouts on the other.  It was fun to watch a great group of boys line up for the races with their pit passes around their necks.

The blue blur below is our son’s car winning one of its races.

It was also fun to watch the big brothers clustered at the finish line.

In all, it was a pleasant evening, especially for this handsome guy.

Our father and son engineering team ended up with a second place overall finish and the “Most Aerodynamic” award.   Great job, guys!

Little Crack-up

For so many years we’ve had one this age in our home that we’re just accustomed to living with this type of entertainment.  It’s hard to think that one day we won’t have a little bundle of funny like this.

This two year old is the source of much laughter for our family.  She talks VERY well and can express so many thoughts and feelings that we’re laughing all the time.  She also loves to sing.  Her favorite is “Tomorrow” from the movie Annie.  There’s nothing like a toddler belting out, “toomahyo, toomahyo, I yuv ya, only a day away” She also loves bananas.  And sunglasses.  And dresses.  And pacifiers.

We love HER!  Man, toddlers are fun!
