Coming Soon

Last August a Chick-fil-A opened up in our city, about three minutes from our home.

The unanimous vote from our family was that the quality of life here had just risen considerably.

Imagine my surprise and delight to see this sign a few weeks ago.

It’s across the street from Chick-fil-A, just blocks from our home.

Living here just gets better and better.

Postage Stamp Quilt Along

Phew.  I finished it.  Barely.

It’s a good thing there was a deadline of sorts on this project, or I’m not sure I would ever have finished sewing together countless rows of squares.  But the quilt top is now complete and I am very happy with it.

(The pictures are lousy.  I took them at sunset and have yet to invest time in learning how to really edit and manipulate photos.   I’ll take better ones when the quilt is finished.)

I was worried that I wouldn’t like this quilt, but it turns out there was no need for worry.

I love it.  It’s beautiful.  And it was made with fabric that’s been sitting in a drawer for too long.

I’ve become much better at straight line quilting, but have yet to learn free motion quilting.  I think this is the quilt to learn on.

If I can muster the courage…

Hearts Ahead

It’s February.  Valentines day is in 13 days.  I guess when it’s winter we need something to celebrate.

I don’t believe in letting Valentines day get BIG.  But it is a lot of fun to gather supplies and make sweet things.  It’s also a fun time to focus on expressing love to my family and making them feel like the crazy special people that they are.

I always have more ideas than I can use and most years I don’t get to them, but this year I’ve promised myself some time to experiment, try some of my ideas and see what I can come up with.

One of them might involve those sprinkles.  They’re about 1/16th of an inch in size and I can hardly get over how cute they are.

What are you planning for Valentines Day?
