Vintage Tablecloth: Blue Cherries

With two cherry trees in the backyard, someday I’d love to find a large vintage cherry tablecloth that is a real stunner.  For now, this little number does the job.

It measures 34 by 34 inches and is hemmed on two sides.  One of the loveliest things about it is that it is printed on linen instead of cotton.  I love the feel of old linen, drapey and supple but so strong.

Of course I love the colors, the blue cherries, light blue background and cherry blossoms all over it.  It has no stains or flaws, just the gorgeous linen weave.

This tablecloth has no markings on it.  I wish I knew who made it and how old it is.  It’s a beauty!

Pink Ticking Tablecloth

I love vintage linens.  Among my favorite things is my collection of printed tablecloths, which make me smile when I look at them.  I’ve always wanted to find a good way to catalog these lovely pieces, so I’ve decided to post pictures of one each day (or as often as possible) until I have them all photographed.  I’m hoping this will also accomplish the task of driving away the winter blues.

So, since Valentines day is approaching, I’ll start with a pink one.

This is one of my favorites (but I say that about every one of them).  I love the way it resembles vintage ticking, but on a larger scale.

The inner section has a scalloped border that is  so cute!

The pattern continues around the outer border.

This tablecloth measures 41 inches wide by 52 inches long.  It has a few flaws and tiny stains, but nothing that detracts from it or makes in any less lovely to me.   It has no markings on it, and if anyone knows anything about it, I’d love to hear!

This is a fun cloth to use at a baby shower for a little girl.  What would you use it for?

Vintage Tart Molds

I found these awesome vintage tart molds at the antique mall last month.   So fun!

There were six of each shape, 18 in all.  They’re pretty small, 2-3 inches in length.

Wouldn’t they look awesome filled with candy?  I’ve got them sitting on my kitchen window sill, just waiting for me to do something wonderful with them.  What would you do?

As a side note, I also picked up a couple of pieces of old silver flatware.  I’m pretty sure I’ll never have nice new china, so instead I’m going to slowly gather old pieces to use on special occasions.  I’m getting close to having enough to use with my big family.   These are my most recent additions:

I didn’t think to photograph it, but the spoon has a monogram on it.  I LOVE IT when I find monograms.

Our family is adjusting to the school schedule again and I’m hoping to find time to do things like clean these pieces so we can use them!  I’m also enjoying the simplicity of my home minus holiday decorations.  At this time of year I’m always drawn to just blue and white, and as little as possible.  Sort of like the pictures above.  Simple but beautiful.  I wish my whole life could be like that.   I’ve been working on a re-do of my family room.  I’m excited to share it once it’s finished.

Have a great day!
